Hail to the king, baby!
The revised version of the original Xbox Duke controller finally has a release window and price.
Original Xbox designer Seamus Blackley, who is working on the project with third-party accessories company Hyperkin, announced a release at the end of March and a $69.99 price on his Twitter account.
In an interview with CNet at CES, Blackley also revealed this reimagining will feature new bumper buttons and an LED screen to show the original Xbox startup reel.
“I built a prototype myself, because I knew if I said we should put a screen behind the jewel nobody would ever go for it,” Blackley told CNet.
Blackley also discussed how the passion of fans about the Duke on Twitter helped incite this new project.
“I discovered to my horror and fascination that The Duke was an object of nostalgia and comfort and happiness and childhood memories, and all these people with big hands saying it was the only controller that was comfortable,” he told CNet.
This new and improved Duke has even been officially approved by Xbox some months after it was first announced during 2017’s E3.
