The best PS4 games: 20 of this generation’s must-play titles

With almost 60 million units sold, the PS4 is without a doubt the highest selling consoles of this generation. Lots could be written about the hardware’s power, but we all know the main reason for its success is its vast and varied library of games.

Yes, in its first couple of years a depressing number of these were ports of PS3 games like The Last of Us and GTA5, but those days are now behind us, with excellent exclusives like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, and Uncharted 4.

There are plenty of great games on the way for the system soon, but right now we’re most excited about Spider-Man, the PS4 exclusive from Ratchet and Clank developers Insomniac Games.

That said, although choice is a great thing it can make your life difficult, particularly when it comes to choosing which games are worth your hard earned cash.

It’s hard to keep up with every new release and it can be even harder to pick which game you want from the long list of those available to you. That’s where our guide to the best games on the PS4 comes in handy. Even if you can’t get them all as they’re released, it’s worth trying to pick up a few in the Black Friday sales!

In constructing our round-up we’ve tried to cover a variety of game styles and genres from big to small, single-player to multiplayer. So whether you’ve owner a PS4 since launch, or whether you’re a newcomer to the system, you should find something new to love in our 20-item-strong, best-of-the-best list.
